HARRISBURG – Area senior citizens residing in the 183rd Legislative District are invited to Rep. Zach Mako’s (R-Lehigh/Northampton) Senior Expo on Friday, Sept. 15, at Bethany Wesleyan Church in Cherryville.
“I am excited to host this senior expo,” Mako said. “My predecessor held this event for many years, and I know to expect a large crowd. I encourage senior citizens, their family members and caregivers to stop by for some great information, valuable health screenings and a chance to meet up with old friends.”
The expo is free to attend and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is located at 675 Blue Mountain Drive, Cherryville
Seniors who attend the expo will have the opportunity to visit with more than 70 local, state and federal agencies and organizations offering information on programs and services available to seniors. Free flu shots will be available, assuming no manufacturing delays. Free vision and blood pressure screenings also will be offered, along with balance assessments.
The Pennsylvania Mobile Veterans Service Van will be present to assist veterans. Also on hand will be CarFit, a free, interactive and educational program designed to improve older driver safety by providing information on minor adjustments that can help a senior’s vehicle “fit” better. To schedule a CarFit appointment for the day of the expo, please call Mildred Ozoa from the Bethlehem Health Bureau at 484-239-2890.
