Grant Awarded for Neffs Valley Park, Mako Says
HARRISBURG – Rep. Zach Mako (R-Lehigh/Northampton) today announced a $300,000
Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant has been awarded to North Whitehall Township for one of its parks.
The funding from the program comes from a variety of sources, including the Keystone and Environmental Stewardship funds, ATV and snowmobile restricted accounts, and the federal Pennsylvania Recreational Trails funds.
“The park and recreational opportunities in the Lehigh Valley make it a great place to live and visit,” Mako said. “Frisbee golf has been growing in popularity. These updates will help with demand. I’m pleased the state was able to assist with funding this important project.”
The grant will be used to rehabilitate and further develop Neffs Valley Park. The work will include renovation of an access drive, construction of a parking area and pedestrian walkways, installation of a pedestrian bridge and stormwater management measures.
The 183rd House District includes Lowhill and North Whitehall townships and Slatington Borough in Lehigh County. It also consists of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Moore (part) townships, and Bath, North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.
